residencies in Switzerland and South Africa

Pro Helvetia Cape Town offers artists and professional cultural practitioners in a wide sense (including administrators, choreographers, authors, critics, translators, technicians, etc.) who are not yet established on the international scene the possibility of a three-week to six-month residency in Switzerland (for artists from the region encompassed by Pro Helvetia Cape Town) and in Southern Africa (for artists from Switzerland).

The program that has been running since 1999; aims to encourage the development of cultural practices in a climate of cultural diversity.

The offer is extended to individuals who are keen on a change of surroundings to broaden their horizon, develop their projects, pass on specific knowledge and skills, carry out workshops, share perspectives and encounter a new public.

Looking beyond the intercultural exchange, Pro Helvetia will give preference to projects that show a development potential and the possibility of generating follow-up projects and having an international impact. Please note that the relevant application form must be used when applying.

Applicants from Switzerland must submit their application to Pro Helvetia Zurich (download form from website), those from Southern Africa are to submit their application to Pro Helvetia Cape Town.
